Mount Shasta Seals | Weed Sons
Area: Siskiyou (Mt. Shashta)
Year: 1956
Description: Picture was taken prior to game between Weed and Mount Shasta at latter's park.
The nickname Seals was derived from fact the team wore hand-me-down uniforms from San Francisco Seals of Pacific Coast League. These wool uniforms were heavy and real hot on a typical summer day in Mt. Shasta, but it didn’t seem to matter as the competitive drive overcame such discomfort.
Left to right: Paul Alabona, Ron Castro, Fred Glosser, Bob Quattrin, Bob Zucca
Players from San Francisco who took summer job in Mount Shasta, Weed, and played on town teams with locals.
