Memories of the Game

Sodality Park in San Jose

Babe Ruth and the equally famous Lou Gehrig played in an exhibition baseball game at the old Sodality Baseball Park in San Jose on October 26, 1927. This photo taken on that day shows the Babe with Earl Pinard, a promising young sixteen year old youth who was the youngest player in the game. This may be the only picture of that day that has survived.

Sodality Park was located where Orchard Supply Hardware is today on San Carlos Street.
