Yuba-Sutter Rebels
Area: Sutter (Yuba City)
Year: 1954

Description: Source: The Local Nine by Michael Jang

1953 proved to be a difficult year for the community in supporting both the Giants and the Bears. With attendance falling below the profit line, the locals decided to combine the two teams into one. The resulting merger was the 1954 Yuba Sutter Rebels. With an abundance of talent. manager John Perry enjoyed having great players battling for starting positions. The pitching was above par for the Sacramento Valley League competition with southpaws Fred Besana and Bud Lathrop and right handers Chet Ashe and Ken Galbraith at first base the Rebels had a steady hitter and a classy fielder in Vint Spencer Johnny Warren, Jim McElroy, Royce Pipkin, Truston Scotten, Al Seabrook, Gary Gledhill, Dallas Lewis and Earle Yorton rounded out the team.
