Description: Visiting team in this game was Verdi Club of San Francisco.
Veterans Administration Base Hospital diamond was home field for AmVets team. Located off Willow Road in Menlo Park, U.S. government maps showed as being in Palo Alto.
While the AmVets team was formed after World War II, prior to its arrival various teams from San Francisco and elsewhere were the host team to visiting clubs on Sundays to entertain the resident vets. Above is pre-war game with Hal Petrocchi at the plate for Tufo Jewelers (home team for summer) of San Francisco.
Viewer will note the raised ground behind home plate to backstop which was created a challenging situation for the catcher in chasing a foul ball.
